Commissioner
Commissioner Tony Ortiz has a distinguished background in law enforcement, having served for 14 years with the Orlando Police Department. During his tenure, he played critical roles in various tactical units, including Special Task Forces, Gangs Unit, Uniform Drug Unit, and the SWAT Team. His commitment to community safety and crime prevention is evident through his academic pursuits and expertise in crimes against the elderly and disabled citizens, as well as crime prevention through environmental design.
In 2005, Commissioner Ortiz created a communications platform to keep the public informed about their rights and responsibilities. He wrote and hosted the television segment “Behind the Badge” for the Orlando Police Department and the City of Orlando. From 2004 to 2007, he served as a Liaison Officer between the Government, the Community, and the Police Department, gaining valuable insights into community needs. Motivated to further serve his constituents, he launched his candidacy for Orlando City Commissioner, District 2, in 2007.

Commissioner Mayra Uribe is honored to serve as the newly elected Commissioner for Orange County District 3. A dedicated wife, mother, business owner, and first-generation American, she has deep roots in District 3. Commissioner Uribe’s passion for her community is reflected in her commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents.
Sworn in with her family by her side and the community in attendance, Commissioner Uribe brings a personal and passionate approach to her role. She is dedicated to sharing her ideas and working tirelessly to create the best possible environment for all District 3 residents.

Gateway Orlando is an official Main Street Organization operating in partnership with the City of Orlando. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our purpose is to help businesses along the Semoran Corridor grow and prosper. We do this by helping our member businesses build connections with the surrounding community and with each other. And with more than 500 businesses and 12,000 households along the Corridor, the business impact for our member businesses is substantial.

Today it is a network of more than 1,600 neighborhoods and communities, rural and urban, who share both a commitment to place and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. Main Street America™ is a program of the nonprofit National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
